LOGLINE:Highlights the history and heritage of the Garifuna Nation.
DIRECTED BY: MARTHA CLARISA HERNANDEZ & MARIA JOSE ALVAREZFeature Documentary | Nicaragua & Honduras | 2010 | 65 min | Spanish w/ English Subtitles | HD
With elements of a “road movie”, this ethnographic film travels across Nicaragua to Caribbean Honduras. It gives voice to a community that has always resisted colonialism – and now struggle to maintain their humanist identity as protectors of the living environment. Through endearing characters – Like Dady (84 years old) — we come to understand the worldview of the Garifuna Nation. We witness Dady’s poignant return in search of his ancestral Orinoco community and the heritage of the Garifuna people. We enjoy this trip to a people’s roots, an encounter with their ancestors, a recognition of a family’s history of endurance.
